St. Catherine’s Church

Another shot from the Hornitos, CA area, this time from St. Catherine’s church. The church was established in the 1860’s and still occasionally conducts a mass around Christmas. I shot this behind the church in their cemetery. It is incredibly old as one would imagine. Many headstones are lost to time by having fallen or are made of wood which has eroded from the elements. Other’s are still well intact. Taken with my Fuji X-E1.

Wow, headstones made of wood! Around here they would last only a few years before disintegrating.

I was very surprised to see the few that I did. I was hoping to find dates, but it was just too worn out. There’s another cemetery kinda/sorta in the area that has more wood headstones, but I think the community makes a point to replace them as needed.
